Why we built a feedback tool that does less, on purpose

The RoadBear team·May 20, 2026·4 min read

Every feedback tool starts simple. Then it adds custom fields, then statuses, then segments, then an admin panel to manage the admin panels. A few years later, getting an idea from a customer into your roadmap takes ten clicks and a training session.

For a small team or a solo builder, that complexity is pure cost. You don't need segmentation — you need to know what people want and show them you're on it.

Three verbs

So we drew a hard line around three things: suggest a feature, vote, and see the roadmap. A customer posts an idea in two fields. Others upvote it. You move it across under review, planned, in progress, and done. That's the entire loop, and for most teams it's enough.

Everything we leave out is a decision. No ten-field forms. No setup wizard. No features you'll never open. The goal is a board live in under two minutes.

Beautiful is a feature

Most tools in this space look the same — cold blues and dense tables. We went warm on purpose. When a board is pleasant to use, more people vote, and you learn more. The vote button should be the prettiest thing on the screen.

Less, done well, beats more done halfway. That's the whole bet.

Give your product a roadmap people actually want to visit.

Free forever on the Free plan. It takes a minute to get your first board live.
